Terms of Use

Effective 21 October 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of craoncall.tech (the "Site"), including the free scanner, paste-in checker, security.txt and disclosure policy generator, runbook and guides (together, the "Free Tools"). The Site is operated by Futurist IP, a corporation incorporated in Ontario, Canada, operating as CRA On Call ("we", "us", "our").

By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you use the Site on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for it, and "you" includes that organisation. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. Business use

The Site and our services are intended for businesses and professionals. You must be at least 18 years old to use them.

2. The Free Tools

The Free Tools check publicly available signals, such as a security.txt file or a disclosure policy page, and produce general information and draft documents. They do not assess whether any product complies with Regulation (EU) 2024/2847 (the Cyber Resilience Act) or any other law, and a good result does not mean you are compliant. Drafts produced by the generator are starting points that you are responsible for reviewing, adapting and approving before use.

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Free Tools at any time, and we may limit use to protect the Site.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • scan a domain unless you own it, work for its owner, or are otherwise authorised to assess it;
  • use the Site or the Free Tools to harm, probe or overload any system, or to gather information for unsolicited marketing;
  • access the Site by automated means (bots, scrapers, scripts) beyond normal browsing, or attempt to bypass rate limits or other protections;
  • interfere with, disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its servers or connected networks;
  • submit false information, malicious code or content that is unlawful or infringes anyone's rights;
  • use the Site in breach of any applicable law.

Good-faith security research on this Site is welcome. Please report any vulnerability through our contact form ("Security report") and give us reasonable time to fix it before disclosure.

4. Not legal advice

We provide technical and process services. Nothing on the Site, in the Free Tools or in our communications is legal advice, and no lawyer–client relationship is created. Where we say a matter appears reportable, we explain why; the decision whether and how to report is yours, and you should confirm it with your own legal counsel.

5. Paid services

Our paid services are provided only under a separate written agreement signed by both parties before work starts. That agreement sets out the scope, service levels, fees, confidentiality, data protection and liability terms. If it conflicts with these Terms, the written agreement prevails. Submitting a form on the Site does not create an obligation for either party to enter into an agreement.

6. Intellectual property

The Site, including its text, guides, design, code and the CRA On Call name, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. You may view the Site and print or save the guides and runbook for your organisation's internal use. You may not copy, republish or sell Site content, or use our name in a way that suggests endorsement, without our written permission.

Drafts you create with the generator are yours to use, modify and publish for your own organisation without attribution.

7. Third-party sites and independence

The Site links to third-party websites, such as ENISA and EUR-Lex, for convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or availability. CRA On Call is independent: we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for ENISA, the European Commission, any national CSIRT or any market surveillance authority.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site and the Free Tools are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties and conditions, whether express, implied or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness and non-infringement. Regulatory requirements and official guidance change; we try to keep the guides current but do not guarantee that they are complete, accurate or up to date at any given time.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity, or for any regulatory fines or penalties, arising out of or in connection with the Site or the Free Tools, even if we were advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Site or the Free Tools is limited to one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD 100). Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Site, including scanning a domain you were not authorised to assess.

11. Suspension

We may suspend or block access to the Site, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or that your use poses a risk to the Site or others.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time by posting a new version on this page with a new effective date. Changes apply from that date. Your continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts located in Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site, and you consent to their jurisdiction. This does not deprive you of any mandatory protection under the law of the country where you are based.

15. General

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign your rights under these Terms; we may assign ours in connection with a reorganisation or sale of our business. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site and the Free Tools.

16. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent through our contact form.
